In the leadup to World Hepatitis Day, CATIE, Canada’s source for HIV and Hepatitis C information, is partnering with the BC Hepatitis Network to deliver a training course for you and your colleagues on Hepatitis C Treatment. This course is being delivered to frontline workers across British Columbia.
CATIE’s Hepatitis C Treatment course aims to develop in-depth knowledge on the treatment of hepatitis C for frontline service providers working with clients who have hepatitis C or are at risk for hepatitis C. Through this course, participants will gain information on the benefits of treatment and an overview of what treatment for hepatitis C typically includes. This course will help participants to be able to accurately answer client questions on hepatitis C treatment options, access to treatment, and additional considerations for treatment. Participants will emerge with strategies to support clients before, during, and after treatment.

Audience
This course is geared toward service providers working with clients who have hepatitis C or are at risk for hepatitis C. Participants should have a basic understanding of hepatitis C before beginning this course.
Time Commitment
Participants should expect to commit 1 hour per week to complete all assigned online activities. The live webinar is an additional one-and-a-half hour interactive session that takes place during the fourth and final week of the course.
Weekly topic breakdown
Hepatitis C Testing includes three online modules with a variety of learning activities such as eLearning units, readings, discussion board assignments, and videos. You can work through each weekly module at your own pace.
WEEK 1: Introduction to hepatitis C treatment
WEEK 2: Factors that may influence decisions on hepatitis C treatment
WEEK 3: Staying healthy during and after hepatitis C treatment
WEEK 4: Interactive online meeting; Hepatitis C Treatment in Context
To finish the course, you and your colleagues will come together for an interactive online meeting to discuss the course in the context of your work. This will occur on July 27th at 12pm – 1:30pm, PST. Save the date!
Technical requirements
To access the eduCATIE online learning management system (LMS), you will need to have access to a computer with an Internet connection, and use Chrome, Firefox or Safari as your web browser. eduCATIE is not compatible with Internet Explorer.
If your organization has strict email filters in place, please check with your IT personnel to make certain that you have the technical requirements to participate in this course. Please ask them to add notifications@instructure.com to the list of safe senders to ensure you receive a course invitation. You can also choose to register with a different email account (e.g. a personal account) to make it more likely that email notifications from eduCATIE aren’t blocked.
